Open call from April 15 – September 15, 2025

B-MURALS URBAN ART CENTER

B-MURALS is a center specialized in urban art based in Barcelona.
A pioneering and unique project due to its comprehensive approach, combining support for creation through the promotion of mural interventions, residencies, and exhibitions; with community, educational, reflective, and outreach work aimed at growing and bringing this discipline closer to the general public. It combines a connection and interaction with the local territory while maintaining a universal spirit with international reach.

B-MURALS is located in Nau Bostik, a former industrial complex converted into a community cultural space, in the Sagrera neighborhood.

It is driven by Difusor, an organization that has been working for over a decade on promoting artistic action in the urban environment.

THE B-MURALS RESIDENCIES

B-MURALS is opening its studio to host 6 artists during 2026, divided into 3 blocks of three months each, for them to develop an artistic project.

Objectives of the B-Murals Residencies:

  • To provide support for artistic creation, exploration, and research by urban artists and others who engage with public space.

  • To foster connections and create bridges between international artists and the Catalan artistic community.

  • To create a suitable space for the production of studio work and promote an exhibition context linked to public interventions in the city of Barcelona.

  • To apply for the artistic residency, applicants must submit a project, as detailed below.

ELIGIBILITY

This call is aimed at artists who establish a relationship and dialogue with the local territory and public space.

The call is mainly directed at visual and plastic artists, but is also open to multidisciplinary artists who can apply their work to the public sphere.
Urban art, visual arts, artistic research, and interdisciplinary projects, especially those seeking a relationship and dialogue with the territory, are encouraged to apply.

Objective
This call aims to select 6 artists to participate in the B-M2026 Residencies, who will develop an artistic project linked to urban art and public space at B-Murals, in 3-month periods.

1 out of the 6 places will be granted to an artist in a vulnerable situation who can benefit from the residency, prioritizing migrants, refugees, and/or displaced persons. This artist will be selected in collaboration with the Yaran Foundation, which will handle the pre-selection of candidates, from which one will be chosen, always taking into account the criteria set out in these guidelines.

SPACE CHARACTERISTICS

The workspace offered within the framework of this call is a workshop space of about 30m², located in the warehouse adjacent to B-MURALS’ main space, one of the units that form part of the old industrial complex of Nau Bostik. The space has natural light, work tables, electrical outlets, water, and an Internet connection (Wi-Fi).

The warehouse where the workspaces are located has two 30m² rooms for individual use, plus a common area at the entrance.
